Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been tough. Low water, warm
sunny weather and large weekend crowds made the fish quite skiddish.
Water level remain low 335cfs. Fishing improved slightly today with
pressure dropping off dramatically from the weekend. More and more
steelheads have been showing up daily throughout the river. A bit
of wet weather is forecasted over the next few days, with any luck
this will improve the flow and the fishes attitude.

The Salmon River is seeing the biggest run king and coho salmon
this fall. Big numbers of salmon are on the move through mid to
lower Salmon River and I'd say the upper river is going to see plenty
of fish over the next few days. The drift boats fishing Lake Ontario
at the mouth of the Salmon River have been having productive nights
and mornings. This would indicate plenty of fish to come! Steelhead
fishing is fast approaching! November and December are prime months
to catch fresh giant chrome steelheads. Get in on the action with
one of our guides in a comfortable, safe heated drift boat. It's
the best way to cover a lot of water effectively. We are not Altmar
to Pineville guides! We cover mid to lower Salmon River depending
on which stretches are productive. We offer fly fishing, center
pin and spin fishing so you choose your weapon of choice.

Salmon fishing on the Salmon River is heating up quick! Good rain
finally hit the area. The rain brought a good push of fresh kings
thru the lower river. Lake Ontario has been still producing a good
night bite. Drift boats are taking kings on glow spoons slow trolled
in front of the Salmon River mouth. Steelhead fishing is right around
the corner. We start switching over from salmon to steelhead around
mid October and run trip all fall, winter & spring. If you think
salmon fishing is fun you should really try a trip for steelhead!

September 26, 2011
Salmon fishing has been very good at the mouth of the Salmon River.
Night trollers are using glow spoons off the break walls and having
alot of action. The water levels remain low and warm for this late
in the season and the salmon seem to be happy out in Lake Ontario.
There have been small movements of kings and cohos over the last
week but numbers are certainly not up to par for late September.
If your fishing the river it hasn't been easy pickens by no means.
There's cooler temps and rain in the forecast so I'd expect the
action to improve gradually over the next week or so. The good news
is the run will be extended into late October this year. There's
still time to get in on the action. We have some availability in
October as well as plenty of steelhead dates open through the fall
and winter. We have a 19' heated drift boat for your comfort and
safety in the winter months for steelhead fishing.

September 18, 2011
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has gone down hill fast. Lots of
wind pushed the kings and cohos in close to shore and moved a big
bunch up the Salmon River. Up until Saturday we were doing quite
well trolling deeper water for cohos. The wind came and the shallow
water paid off big time for kings just for a few days. The Salmon
River estuary and lower river are seeing good numbers of salmon.
I would say there's more to come out of the lake but conditions
are tough and the bite is SLOW! It's amazing how fast it changes.
Our drift boat guides fishing at night around the river mouth are
doing well but by day the fish just don't want to cooperate. This
is the transition time of year for the fish and us charter captains
will now become drift boat guides and chase the fish where they
go- up river!

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario remains very good lately. We are
trolling 40-60' off the the mouth of the Salmon River. King and
coho salmon are biting attractor/fly combos and J-plugs in the usual
green/white glow colors. The Salmon River has been tough the last
few days - low water (335cfs) has the fish hanging in the deepest
spots in the deepest holes. Very few salmon on the move lately.
Same story at the river mouth, not a whole lot happening. The best
bet right now is daytime trolling off shore on charter boat.

September 7, 2011
The first good push of salmon were blasting through the lower Salmon
River today. It looks like the cooler temps and increase in water
levels did the trick in motivating the kings. I guess we did not
get enough rain to keep the flow up and the power company has decided
to drop the water back to 335 CFS. This could change quickly if
enough rain falls & it is forecasted to keep raining.
Lake Ontario still has plenty of salmon lurking around. Today we
fished in 50-60' of water and marked a ton of fish. The bite was
decent yet again.
Until 8:00 AM tomorrow, Thu, 750 CFS
From 8:00 AM tomorrow until 8:00 PM tomorrow, 500 CFS
From 8:00 PM tomorrow until 11:59 PM tomorrow, 335 CFS

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario was very good over the weekend.
Today was tougher but not terrible.
Kings are hanging in 60-100' off the Salmon River. They're biting
fly/flasher combos and the usual glow J plugs.
There's some moving up the Salmon River and some in the estuary
but nothing really major yet. Night fishing is slowly improving
and should be very productive very soon. I'd expect to see better
numbers of fish moving up the river very soon as well.
Increased flow and cooler weather should help the salmon get motivated.
Water levels are going up!
From 9:00 PM today until 11:59 PM tomorrow, Wed, 750 CFS

August 28, 2011
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been very good the last few
weeks. Salmon have been hanging out off the Salmon River in deeper
water 125'-175' 5-8 miles out. The kings have been hitting the usual
white & green glow flasher fly combos run 100-130' down off
riggers or 300' plus off the diver rods. It's been pretty easy:)
The Salmon River has been seeing small but steady runs of salmon
in the lower to mid river. The water is at 185cfs but is supposed
to run at 335cfs starting September 1st. We did not get much precipitation
from the big storm and water levels are down in the Redfield reservoir.
The bottom line is they may open it up to get the fish in but unless
we get rain it may not stay up for very long. Dry years in the past
proved to be very good fishing in the estuary and around the mouth
in Lake Ontario. We offer evening and night trips for 2 people out
of the drift boats. This is a very exciting way to fish for salmon!

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario is heating up. Big west winds have
brought good numbers of king salmon to the East end of Lake Ontario.
We have been fishing 130'-150' taking salmon 125'-140' down with
flasher/fly combos. Lake trout, brown trout and steelhead have been
hitting as well. This is the beginning of the best part of our lake
season. Huge numbers of salmon will end up on the east end of Lake
Ontario over the next few weeks as they stage to run the Salmon
River. It's time folks! It's only going to get better!
Salmon River Guide
August 4, 2011
Charter fishing on Lake Ontario continues to produce catches of
BIG king salmon. We have been finding king salmon in 150-200' off
the Salmon River. Salmon have been down 95-110' hitting flasher/fly
combos in the usual green and white patterns. Some charters are
still fishing brown trout and doing well. The trout are in 100'
hitting spoons run down 85-95'. Our dates are filling in fast, we
have plenty of weekdays open thru the end of this month and afternoons
on the weekends. Afternoon trips are productive! Give us ring or
shoot us an email to get in on the fun:)

Salmon and trout fishing off the Salmon River on eastern Lake Ontario
continues to be productive. Charters are catching trout in 60-80'
of water and king salmon are biting in 120-140'. Spoons are working
for trout and flasher/fly combos are taking kings. August looks
good for fishing on the Lake Ontario. Huge numbers of giant salmon
stage off the mouth of the Salmon River in later August and September.
That's why our area has the best salmon fishing in New York State!

Salmon and trout are still providing great action for charters
fishing Lake Ontario out of the Salmon River.
Today we took a limit by 9:30 straight off the Salmon River in 90-120'.
King salmon and brown trout were biting green glow spoons down 80-100'
off the down riggers. You never know what you might catch on lake
Ontario and today we managed a 16 pound brown trout! The king salmon
ranged from 5-20 pounds. We have plenty of opening over the next
few months including weekends. This weekend is open! Get in on the
mixed bag of salmon and trout! We offer great 2 day package deals.

July 8, 2011
King salmon fishing on eastern Lake Ontario is turning on early
this summer. Trollers are catching a mixed bag of salmon and trout.
Green flasher fly combos run 105-125' down, fished over 130' worked
well today. We still have dates open for summer salmon charters.
Thanks for checking us out!

Lake Ontario has been producing decent brown trout action. The
numbers are so-so but the quality is good. We are going a bit deeper
to find action 50-60'. Stingers off the riggers, mini dipsies and
lead core have been working there magic fished 30-40' down.
King salmon are being found over deeper water off Nine Mile Point
but not in good numbers or sizes just yet. Walleye fishing on Lake
Ontario has been tough from Oswego the Henderson. Walleye fishing
on Lake Oneida has been much better, dragging worm spinner combos
in 30-35' has been producing well. Bass season has opened up and
so far the small mouth bass have been hanging in the tribs so lake
fishing is slow. We offer great 2 day package deals for during the
week in July.
Salmon River Guide
June 7, 2011
Walleye and brown trout charters are producing decent catches of
above average size fish. Lake Ontario is warming up and we are heading
to deeper water to find action. Numbers of brown trout are down
but the size is up. Trolling Stingers in 20-40' in Mexico Bay is
producing some trout. A few king salmon are starting to show up
in 120'-160 - 50'-70' down off 9 mile point. Walleye fishing has
been good at night for big fish and outstanding by day for smaller
ones. Slow trolling worms and spinners on Oneida Lake is very good
right now during the day.

Walleye fishing on Lake Ontario has been improving drastically.
Trolling big stickbaits along the shoreline has been producing BIG
walleyes. Brown Trout fishing has slowed down some. We are still
catching trout but working for them. The water temperatures are
going up fast and fish are moving deeper. Oneida Lake walleye fishing
has been very good.

May 24, 2011
Brown trout fishing on Lake Ontario has been very good. We've been
running charters and limits are the normal. Trolling stickbaits
off planer boards has been working well. Walleye fishing has been
ok. Worm and spinners has been working on medium size walleye. Most
the action has been in the late afternoon through dark. A few big
walleyes are hitting after dark but it certainly has not been good.
Oneida is producing decent action both day and night. Worms and
spinners by day slow trolling lures after dark. We have plenty of
openings for brown trout and walleye trips on Lake Ontario and Oneida
Lake. We often do combo walleye - brown trout trips give us a call
for details.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been crazy good. The
easy days of the spring are here for sure. I'd expect good fishing
to continue for a few more weeks. High water has held the post spawn
steelheads in the river longer then usual. We are using beads and
egg sacks under floats and averaging 15+ fish on a trip. Brown trout
fishing along the lake shore has been outstanding as well. Trollers
are fishing 8-20' from Mexico pt to Sandy Pond and are limiting
out on a regular basis. We have boats open over the next few weeks
for both steelhead and brown trout trips. Walleye season opens up
Saturday May 6. We our getting pretty filled up for the first 3
weeks but after that we have plenty of dates through May & June.

Water levels on the Salmon River are gradually receding. Over night
the river has dropped to 1500cfs.
Steelhead fish remains awesome. We are catching spawning and post
spawn steelhead and an occasional brown trout.
The steelhead are starting to exit the hatchery pens and it won't
be long before the majority of fish are gone, gone, gone.
I give the season another 3 weeks of GOOD then it will fizzle out
fast around mid May. Brown trout are hammering stickbaits close
to shore all around Lake Ontario. It's been a windy spring and trollers
are finding it hard to get after the trout but when they have it's
been ON FIRE!
April 18, 2011
Water levels on the Salmon River have receded to 1800cfs. Steelhead
fish has been outstanding once again! Beads under floats had been
working and the boats pulling plugs are tearing them up.

April 17, 2011
Water levels are way up on the Salmon River - 4000 cfs YES we are
still fishing!! Steelheads do not care how high the water is. The
last few days we have had over 20 hookups a day. If you have any
doubts check out our Salmon River Guide FaceBook page. Lots of updates
and new pictures.
Salmon River Guide
April 14, 2011
Water levels on the Salmon River have increased to 2500cfs! That
is a lot of H2O. However steelhead fishing remains terrific, especially
from the drift boats. We hammered them today, as did 3 other boats
running trips for us. Yes the waters cold, murky and ripping but
if you know where to look and what to use it's been pretty easy.
Mobility is key and being in the boat is certainly a huge advantage.
I keep hearing complaints on how tough it's been for waders but
right now bank guys are very limited to certain ''safe'' areas which
only makes it better for boaters. Beads under floats have been all
we've needed. We still have guides available for thru mid May for
steelhead trips. If your struggling to catch steelhead's on the
Salmon River then you'll be happy once you try fishing with one
of our guides. It's not just catching fish it's learning techniques,
new water, how to drift properly, how to fight fish etc. etc.

4/12/11
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been excellent over the
last few days. Water levels have increased to 1600cfs plus some
runoff. Beads under floats have been working best.Lake Ontario has
been producing decent catches of brown trout along the shoreline.
Walleye season is opening up on the first Saturday of May and we
have a lot of open dates in May and June. We offer day trips on
Oneida Lake or night fishing Oswego Harbor. Our charter boat is
going in the water very soon so get in on the salmon and brown trout
action Lake Ontario has to offer!
Salmon River Guide
4/5/11
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good over
the last few days. I hear reports that it's been tough at times
but we've been getting lucky I guess. Actually we've been very lucky
landing some fantastic fish! Most days we're catching a mix of fresh
chrome, spawning and post spawn fish. Flows are increasing fast!
I'd expect the levels to increase quite a bit very soon. It's 750cfs
at the dam but add in the run off and it's closer to 1800cfs. All
the tributaries are way up. Please use caution!
4/1/11
Steelhead fishing has been very good on the Salmon River. Water
levels have dropped to 750cfs and the weather has moderated a bit.
A lot of the fish we've been catching have been post spawn drop
backs. There are a lot of fish spawning on the gravel bars and still
fresh spring run fish entering the river each day. Over all March
was outstanding steelhead fishing. Water levels should be better
for April this year, there's still plenty of snow pack on Tug hill.
We have dates available for April.
Walleye season is opening in a month for trophy night trips in Oswego
River & Harbor in May - June
Oneida lake walleye trips are day time trips in June and July.
We will be getting the charter boat in the water by May for brown
trout and salmon charters on Lake Ontario in Spring/Summer.
3/24/11
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent. We've been
having average days with 8-10 hook-ups a trip. A few days have been
better but for most part we are working for them. Covering a lot
of water from top to bottom has helped our production. Bead and
egg sacks under floats has been the go to method. A few days bottom
bouncing fresh eggs did take some fish. Water levels on the Salmon
River are up slightly 1500cfs. Perfect for drifting any section
of the river.
Salmon River Guide
3/16/11
Water levels on the Salmon River continue to recede. Steelhead
fishing has been pretty good the last few days. We've been getting
a mix of fresh chrome, dark spawners and even a few dropbacks. Beads
or fresh spawn bags under floats are working best. We have plenty
of opening for the rest of the season- March, April & early
May. Our Charter boat will be in the water for May-September. Get

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has improved over the last
few days. Light fishing pressure and increased water flows has certainly
been to our advantage. Running trout beads under floats is the hot
ticket right now. Water levels are at 900cfs.
It has been a mix of fresh and spawning steelheads with a few brown
trout mixed in.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains decent. Same story
as the last report except there have been few more fresh fish.
Water levels are holding at a dismal 285cfs but this should gradually
increase in the next 2-3 weeks. We still have guides available for
steelhead drift boat trips. We also offer trophy walleye fishing
and salmon charters on Lake Ontario starting from May thru September.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River turned out pretty decent
this past weekend. We worked for them but over all we manage 8-9
hook-ups each day. Not bad for a busy weekend. The water is still
low-285cfs. We are filling in our spring and fall dates - if you
would like any prime dates get a hold of us soon.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been a lot tougher over
the last few days. Water levels have receded to 285cfs making the
ride a bit bumpy. The weather has been cold and snowy. We have been
having some action but certainly working hard for hook-ups.
We have plenty of dates open but spring steelhead and fall salmon
dates are booking up. If you would like a trip for one or the other
you should get it booked asap.

1/12/11
Steelhead fishing has been very consistent on the Salmon River.
The cold weather has slowed the fishing down slightly but it's still
been good. We're not crushing them from start to finish in every
spot but doing well. Most days it's been a pick of steelheads and
brown trout.
Beads, egg sacs and pink worms fished under floats have been working
well for us. Water levels on the Salmon River remain consistent
-500cfs. We still have a lot of opening all winter and spring give
us ring and set up a trip to beat cabin fever this winter:)

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River was excellent over New Years
weekend. The pressure was light and the fish were biting. Water
levels remain at 500cfs on the Salmon River. Steelheads are biting
pink worms, egg sacks and of course beads under floats. Over all
the weather has been OK. We still have a lot of dates open and our

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been excellent. Lack
of pressure and improving weather helped our efforts today. The
Salmon River continues to run at 500cfs. Float fishing beads and

through out 2011. THANKS for checking us out and using our service
in 2010!
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR!!!

12/20/10
Steelhead fishing the Salmon River has been good over the last
few days. Saturday we fished mid river and found plenty of action
at 7 different stops. The pink worm and egg sacks helped out in
the early part of the trips while the beads took over for the end.
The bank pressure was very light because access is difficult with
the deep snow. Water levels have receded slightly -500cfs.
Have a Safe and Merry Christmas!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been good to very good.
Water levels continue to recede-
Until 9:00 PM Mon DEC 06, 1,150 CFS
Float fishing beads mid to upper river has been working well for
us. There's been a mix of dark and silver fish. A few more brown
trout have been showing up the last few days. The weather has been
tough but it has helped keep the crowds away. We have guides available
through April. We offer very reasonable 2 day packages from December
through March.

11/27/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been very good the last
few days. Water levels are up to 750cfs and the fish have been biting
big time! Beads under floats has been the hot ticket for us but
a lot of drift boats are back trolling lures and doing very well.
There has some jumbo size steelhead's around to tangle with. The
weather has been tough and there's been fewer anglers around lately.
We have guides open for the rest of the season.
11/16/10
Over all steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains decent.
We have certainly been working harder for them lately. The big crowds
over the extended holiday weekend made fitting in tough at times.
Beads under floats, bottom bouncing egg sacks and back trolling
lures has all been working. I think changing up tactics has been
helping our over all success. Water levels have been reduced to
335cfs. We have plenty of fall, winter and spring drift boat dates
available for steelhead fishing.
11/3/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been very good. We've
consistently been into 12-15 hook-ups a trip with a few 20+ fish-on
days. In my book that's OUTSTANDING steelhead fishing. Water levels
remain at 750cfs. The weather has been pretty cold the last few
mornings so the bite has been slow for the first few hours then
the action picks up by mid morning. The Salmon River has been busy
with anglers so getting into the out of the way areas with the drift
boat has helped our productivity. Trout beads, egg sacks and egg
pattern flies all have been working with floats or indicators. We
offer center pin fishing, spin fishing and of course fly fishing.
We have drift boat guides available from now through
10/26/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been very good. Float
fishing trout beads has produced steady action.
There's still a few salmon showing up on the gravel from mid to
upper river.
Water levels remain good- Until 11:59 PM Thu OCT 28, 750 CFS. We
still have available dates for weekend and weekdays.
Right now if you book 2 days or 2 boats you can save $50 per boat/trip.
10/19/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been very good. We have
been hitting fish under floats using trout beads.
The last week we have had 12-15 fish on a trip. A few have been
in 13-14 pound range. There has been some kings around here and
there but it is slowing down quickly for salmon. Water levels continue
to be medium - 750 cfs.
We have guides available for the rest of the fall season.
10/13/10
Water levels on the Salmon River have receded to 750cfs. The salmon
runs are about done and the steelheads are taking over.
There are still a fair amount of kings in the river spawning and
hanging out in the holes but there has been very few fresh fish
moving in. Today we hit kings back trolling plugs and steelheads
float fishing with trout beads. There is still quite a few people
stomping around the upper Salmon River. I call it crowded for mid
week. The lower Salmon River has been producing fresh steelheads
and a few brown trout everyday. Water is still off color and visibility
is around 2 feet.
10/8/10
The water will be staying up for the weekend! -Until 11:59 PM Mon
OCT 11, 1,600 CFS
That is great new for drift boaters! We can float anywhere we like
when it is at this level.
Back trolling plugs continues to be productive. There's loads of
fish all over the gravel around Altmar.
Steelheads and brown trout are showing up more and more each day.
Everything is good even after the mini disaster last Friday.
10/5/10
There is decent fishing to be found on the Salmon River and other
smaller Lake Ontario tributaries. Really there is plenty of kings
and coho salmon around despite the high water. Water levels are
expected to recede to 1250cfs until tomorrow midnight. Expect dirty-
off color water water for the next few weeks. It is tough getting
around do to poor visibility in the water. Plugging continues to
be productive. Drifting bait and flies along the edges and anywhere
there is slow water will produce good results.
In the mean time if you need a guide give us a call and we will
see if we can find someone open.
10/3/10
Water levels on the Salmon River are back to normal -1400cfs. I
would say it will continue to recede even more over the next few
days. The water is quite dirty still, far from clear. The last few
days have been very good for drift boats back trolling plugs in
the bigger holes. We had plenty of action today from upper to mid
Salmon River. We still have a few guides open for a few dates over
the next few weeks. After Oct 15 there's plenty of availability.
10/1/10
The water levels on the Salmon River are dropping drastically.
I'd say we'll be fishing for salmon very soon:)
Until 11:59 PM today, Fri, 6,000 CFS
9/29/10
The Salmon River has been seeing good runs of kings and cohos the
last few days. We had a decent amount of rain early in the week
and that sparked a new run of fish through the lower Salmon River.
The upper section has improved as well with a lot of salmon actively
spawning. Water levels are increasing to 1500cfs tonight. With all
the rain expected it should be up for a few days. We still have
a few guides with open dates including Oct 9 and 10.
9/21/10
Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been so/so lately. Increasing
water levels and decreasing fishing pressure has made the plug bite
somewhat better but certainly not on fire. I have gotten lucky having
several really good days lately but some of our others boats had
tough fishing. It is not always a slam dunk. Water levels are at
500cfs until Thursday night. Back trolling plugs has been taking
the bulk of our salmon but we have had some action casting as well.
They have been very tough to hold onto. We've had a few BIG fish
beat us up but we have managed to boat a few in the low 30 pound
range. We have some dates available but schedules are getting filled
up fast.
If you have a date you like to book better get r done!
9/14/10
Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been decent lately. There's
been small runs of kings and cohos from mid to lower river. It's
tougher up river but we've been hitting some each day back trolling
plugs. Lake Ontario continues to be very slow. The few that have
been hitting are taking glow green J-plugs and spoons in the early
morning. We still have good guides available for Salmon River drift
boat fishing. We also offer night fishing trips at the river mouth
and have guides available for that as well. If you'd like to charter
a trip on Lake Ontario for 2011 we offer great 2 day package deals.
9/7/10
The Salmon River is seeing good numbers of kings, cohos and steelheads
running the last two days.
Water levels are 335cfs and are scheduled to stay there until Columbus
day weekend unless we see more rain. There has been plenty of rain
this summer so there's a good chance we'll get some more and the
river flow will increase. Lake Ontario has been very rough lately
and the salmon fishing has suffered as a result. There's still a
few weeks left for trollers on on the big water but conditions are
and have been very tough this season. I am definitely looking forward
to the river this year.
4/17/10
Steelhead fishing has been decent-ok-average. Not the on fire April
we are used to but everyone has been happy at least. Water levels
are low- 285cfs. This is main reason that we are working hard each
day to scrape out enough fish to remain-''ok''. The last few days
the pressure was heavy and finding spots to fit in was tough. During
the week we had alot more water to fish and this certainly helped.
There's enough fish for a few more weeks but my bet is it is going
to be over by early May. The majority of fish seem to be done spawning
and heading back out quickly. Brown trout fishing has been picking
up. I have heard good reports from the west and the north but it
is still slow out in front of the Salmon River. We have guides open
for night walleye fishing in May/June. Lake Charters are also available
for spring/summer salmon and trout fishing on Lake Ontario.
Salmon River Guide
4/7/10
Steelhead fishing continues to be good. Water levels on the Salmon
River are low 285cfs.
However it has been raining a bit so hopefully it will start to
increase. Almost all the fish have been post spawn. It's been very
crowded most days making it tough to find spots to stop. When ever
the levels are low this tends to be the case. We have guides open
for April steelhead fishing on the Salmon River. Charters on Lake
Ontario for walleyes, brown trout and salmon for the spring and
summer are also available. Our summer charter packages are the best
deal in town, ask about our 2 days specials for July and save $$$.
Thanks!
4/5/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good lately.
The majority of steelheads we have been catching are dropbacks (post
spawn). Water levels are low -500cfs and dropping steadily. Beads
under floats are pretty much the goto rigs for good action.
Pressure has been up from both the bank and drift boat fishermen.
We could use some rain really bad. The hatchery has collected all
their steelhead eggs as of Friday. There are still a ton of fish
in the hatchery that have to drop back down soon enough.
3/25/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been good the past few
days. Water levels are up to 1800cfs which is my favorite flow:)
There is rain on it's way so hopefully it will remain up for a few
more days. Beads and egg sacks fished under floats has been the
best but backtrolling plugs has been producing decent action as
well. Brown trout fishing has been hit or miss on the lake so far.
I would expect that to improve the next few weeks as the water warms.
We still have drift boat guides available through out March and
April for steelhead fishing the Salmon River. Brown trout trips
out on Lake Ontario are also starting, weather permitting. The charter
boat will be in the water by mid April so for now the brown trout
fishing will be out of the the drift boat. We still have a few dates
left for trophy walleye trips in Oswego River/lake.

3/19/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains decent. The last
few days we had over a dozen hook-ups each day. It's been tough
keeping them hooked-up but at least we're having action and landing
5-6 a day. Water levels are going up to 1150cfs. Brown trout are
still biting along the shore of Lake Ontario but action has been
sporadic.
We still have plenty of dates open over the next few months for
steelhead, brown trout and walleye charters. Over the next 6 weeks
I personally have- March 24,25,26,28,29,30 & April 1,2,14,15,26,27,28
are still open for steelhead drift boat trips on the Salmon River
or brown trout charters on Lake Ontario. We have other very good
guides available for just about any dates. Give us a call or drop
us an email and we can help you get your trip set up.
Salmon River Guide
3/17/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been OK- Certainly not
great or on fire but just good enough to keep us happy. The weather
has been spectacular! Water levels are good -750cfs+. Staying on
the move has certainly helped out our results. Covering mid river
to the lake has helped us avoid the more pressured areas. Beads,
bags and PWs under the floats have all been working. The brown trout
are starting to show up along the Lake Ontario shoreline. Water
temperatures are still very cold so it is still hit or miss but
some are being taken. We still have dates open for the next few
months of steelhead fishing the river or brown trout fishing Lake
Ontario. Night walleye trips are booking fast for May and June-
if you would like a date get ahold of us asap!
3/9/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been better the last
few days. After several weeks of tough to so/so fishing we kinda
broke out of the a rut finally. Beads under the floats worked best
but take a few steelheads and brown trout back trolling plugs. The
really good news I have the pleasure to bring you is the water will
be increasing tonight to 750cfs. This should improve the fishing
and open up the lower Salmon River to floating with the boat. I
do have DSR passes this season and it will be nice to finally get
some use out of them:). We have plenty of dates open for March,
April and May for steelhead and brown trout fishing on the Salmon
River and Lake Ontario. Summer charters for salmon and trout are
also available. Give us a ring and get in on some great lakes fishing
action!
3/1/10
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been OK lately. Not good,
not bad, just OK. You might say ''consistently average''. We have
been working to find 8-10 hook-ups a trip. On the bright side the
size of some of the fish has been impressive. Water levels are low-285cfs.
We've searched all over the river to find fish. A few spots have
been producing if we worked them hard. Occasionally finding a single
one here and there in between. We have been catching a mix of fresh
and darker steelheads. I predict the spring thaw is coming early
this year. I expect water levels to increase gradually the next
few weeks.
The Salmon River Reservoir is low but temperatures have been moderating
lately. The forecast calls for above freezing temperatures during
the day for the next 10 days or so. We still have plenty of open
dates for steelhead trips in March and April, walleye and brown
charters in May and June, salmon charters in July and August.
2/25/2010
Well not much has changed recently. Mediocre fishing at best. We
had 8 or so hook-ups with 3 steelhead making it to the net. The
fish we landed were all decent fresh hens. Tomorrow looks like it
should be interesting, hopefully we can get into the access lots:)

Another good day drift boat fishing for steelhead on the Salmon
River. After a cold slow start the action picked up as the sun warmed
the water. By far beads did the best today. We launched at Pineville
and floated to the ball park. The fish won the majority of battles
but we did manage to corral 4 good fish. Some days you beat on them
some days they beat on us;) Water levels are dropping to 500 cfs
for at least through the weekend.

2/7/2010
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent lately. The
weather has been tough at times but we're still finding enough action
to keep us from feeling the cold:) Water levels are a perfect 750cfs.
We've been floating from Pineville to Pulaski most days finding
fresh chrome steelheads typical of February. Float fishing beads
and eggs sacks has been the go to plan each day. Thanks for checking
us out!
Salmon River Guide
1/27/10
Despite high the water flow the Salmon River produced well today.
The brown trout were keeping us busy with a steelhead every so often
in between. Float fishing beads and egg sacks did the trick for
us today. It looks like the river will recede over the next few
days-
Until 7:00 PM tomorrow, Thu, 1,800 CFS
From 7:00 PM tomorrow until 8:00 PM Fri, 1,000 CFS
From 8:00 PM Fri, until 11:59 PM Fri, 750 CFS
We have plenty of dates for February and March.
Thanks for checking us out!

1/25/10
Water levels on the Salmon River are going to increase to 1800
cfs - with run off it will be much higher- like 2500-3000 cfs below
the tribs, mid river down. We will still be running our steelhead
trips as long as it does not go bigger yet. Please use caution while
fishing the Salmon River. Thanks for checking us out.
Salmon River Guide
1/20/10
Steelhead fishing has improved over the past week. With milder
temperatures we were able to connect with 10-12 fish a trip. Not
on fire but still decent considering the water remains low- 285cfs.
The weather is forecast to remain fair for the next week or so.
With a little luck we might even see an increase in water flows
sometime soon.
We have plenty of open dates for the rest of winter and spring.
Salmon River Guide
1/6/10
Steelhead fishing has been slow on the Salmon River. Cold, snowy
weather and LOW water has put a damper on the great fishing we have
had for the last few months. The Salmon River is running at 285cfs.
The forecast is for more snow and cold weather for the next few
weeks. As soon as the weather breaks the fishing will improve. We
have plenty of dates open for the rest of winter and spring.
Have a happy and safe new year!
12/29/09
Drift boat fishing steelhead has been pretty good. As usual good
weather equals good fishing. On Sunday we did quite well- with above
average temperatures and a break in the snow the fish were very
cooperative. Yesterday was decent but the weather went bad making
conditions tough to tolerate. Basically the typical story of winter
steelhead fishing- weather conditions will directly dictate productivity.
Water levels are low- 335cfs. We offer very reasonable winter rates
on drift boat trips. All our boats are heated!
Thanks for checking us out!
Have a happy and safe new year!

12/23/09
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been OK lately. The cold
weather has made for tough conditions. Water levels are down to
335cfs once again. Slush in the mid-lower river has been heavy most
days. Anchor and shelf ice are making access difficult- please use
extreme caution while wading the slippery river banks. We would
like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thanks
so very much for checking us out!
Salmon River Guide
12/8/09
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent. It hasn't
been as good as it was but we're still getting into 10-12 fish a
trip- good steelhead fishing by most standards. There's been good
numbers of above average size steelheads to play with- 12-16 pounders!
In other words we've been getting our butts kicked on regular basis.
The weather has been getting much colder making the morning a bit
slow. As the day warms the action gets better. Fishing pressure
has been lighter lately.
Now for the BIG news! Water levels are increasing! After 2 months
of 335cfs it's finally going to 750cfs! OH YEA!
Until 9:00 PM today, 335 CFS
From 9:00 PM today until 11:59 PM Thu, 750 CFS
The weather is looking cold and snowy for the next few weeks.
Salmon River Guide
12/2/09
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains good -very good for
the last 10 days straight. Despite low water the fish have been
cooperating. Fishing pressure has let up and the steelheads and
brown trout have been biting well. Beads under floats but a few
trips we did fly fish hitting fish indicator fishing with nymphs
and egg flies. There's been some really big fish taken this fall
with 12-15 pounders fairly common and even some in the upper teens.
Of course we've had a hard time landing the bigger brutes but that
the name of the game I guess. The water levels remain low 335cfs
but I would expect it to increase slowly over the next few weeks.
We have plenty of open dates through out the winter. Our 2 day package
deals are the best deals around Pulaski for drift boat fishing.

11/21/09
Steelhead fishing remains consistently good on the Salmon River
lately. We've had good numbers of hook-ups through out this last
week. The usual- trout beads under floats have been our #1 bait
of choice. It's fooled some really good fish. Some of the largest
fish of the season thus far. Water levels remain low-335cfs but
with any luck the weather will help us out with some rain really
soon. We have plenty of dates available.
Thanks for checking us out!
Jackie and Shane Thomas
11/17/09
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River continues to be good. 12
plus hook-ups a day has been typical. Trout beads under floats have
been the best but egg sacks, estaz flies and pink worms have been
works as well. Water levels on the Salmon River remain low 335cfs.
The river has been crowded limiting the amount of holes we get to
fish. We have plenty dates open for December through May. We offer
great 2 day package deals for the winter steelhead drift boat trips.
Thanks for checking us out!
Jackie and Shane Thomas
11/8/09
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent. Average
days have been 8-12 fish on landing roughly 50%. Trout beads under
floats have been working best but egg sacks and pink worm have been
doing OK at times. A few more brown trout have been sneaking through
the lower Salmon River each day although numbers are way down this
season so far. Water levels are low 335cfs and it's looking like
it will remain low for awhile, or until we get a good rain storm.
Our November is pretty filled up but we have guides available and
a lot more open dates through out the winter.
Thanks for checking us out!

10/20/09
Steelhead fishing has been pretty good over the last week. Trout
beads under floats have been the ticket to screaming dragzzz! Switching
gears from salmon to steelhead fishing is always a welcome relief
at this point in the season. There are still salmon in the river
but most of them are pretty moldy. The brown trout have been around
to but not good numbers, mostly smaller fish 3-5#s.
Water level have been receding and are going to continue to recede
for the next few days-
Until 9:00 PM tomorrow, Wed, 750 CFS
From 9:00 PM tomorrow until 9:00 PM Thus, 500 CFS
From 9:00 PM Thus, until 9:00 PM Mon, 335 CFS
We have plenty of dates open for winter steelhead fishing. All our
boats are large and have heaters for comfort and safety. We have
the most reasonable winter rates in our area. Our 2 day packages
are great deals. Beat cabin fever and give us a call for ticket
to get in on the action.
10/14/09
Salmon runs on the Salmon River are slowing down. There is plenty
of salmon in the river but not a lot of fresh fish moving in. The
gravel bars are loaded with spawning fish with a 50-50 mix of beat
up and clean fish. Fresh steelheads are hitting beads under floats
with improving numbers each day. Brown trout number are also improving
daily as well. Water levels on the Salmon River will be dropping
to 750cfs by tomorrow at 9pm. We still have good steelhead and salmon
drift boat guides open for the rest of this month and November.
Our 2 day winter rates out the most reasonable around. All our boats
are heated!
10/11/09
The Salmon River continues to produce good action for kings and
trout. The salmon runs have been impressive this fall. Not to surprising
considering we had great action this summer on our charter boat.
The best news yet is the trout are here! We've been hitting a few
brown trout and steelheads almost every trip. The salmon are still
slamming the plugs and the trout have falling to beads fished under
floats. Water levels remain good- 1150cfs-
great levels for drift boats and bank fishing. We have guides open
for salmon and steelhead fishing through the fall and winter.
10/7/09
Salmon fishing on the Salmon River continues to be good. The last
few floats we didn't get limits but had lots of action ending up
with 4-5 fish. The higher water levels are making it tough to land
the powerful salmon. The Salmon River will be running at 1050cfs
today due to heavy rains this week. There's more rain in the forecast
for Friday so I'd expect it to hold at this level or go even higher.
The mid to lower river has been seeing good runs of fresh salmon
along with steelhead and brown trout. We have guides available throughout
October, if you'd like a trip give us a call asap! Winter steelhead
fishing has been awesome for 3 years running. We offer great deals
for winter steelhead drift boat fishing.
10/5/09
The Salmon River continues to produce GOOD catches of king salmon.
We've been back trolling lures and taking limits every day. The
reports have been good from all over the Salmon River as well. A
few steelheads and brown trout have been showing up as well.
The salmon are starting to spawn all over the gravel from mid to
upper river. Water levels are going to increase tonight to 750cfs.
Our dates are filling up for October but we still have guides available-
if you want a trip give us a call asap! We will do our best to get
you hooked up with the best guides on the Salmon River. We still
have steelhead dates for November and through out the winter. Our
winter steelhead rates are the MOST reasonable in Pulaski. We offer
great deal on 2 day packages.
9/30/09
Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been very good the last
5-6 days. Water levels are rising and that's triggering good runs
of fresh salmon up the river. The mid to lower river has been very
hot plus there are steady movements in the upper river as well.
We've been back trolling lure mid-upper river and it's been GREAT!
The lake charters and the night fishing has slackened off but the
estuary has still been holding salmon. The next few weeks will be
the best fishing so far this season on the Salmon River. The Salmon
River is running at 335cfs but it's over 500cfs at the Pineville
gauge. It wouldn't surprise me if they raise it for the weekend.
We still have guides available for dates in October. Get your winter
steelhead drift boat trips booked now!
All our boats our heated. Our 2 days rates are the most reasonable
around.
9/22/09
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been a bit tougher the last
few trips. Trolling at the mouth of the Salmon River has been producing
a few king salmon but nothing exceptional.
Heading off shore to 50-60' just south of the Salmon River has been
more productive but not great either. A lot of salmon have moved
into the estuary and the last few days have been running thru the
lower river. The DSR is reporting the best runs so far this year
the last few days. Water levels on the Salmon River are low-335cfs.
It is a bumpy ride down the river and so far the fish are sparse
on the upper Salmon River. There is rain in the forecast and hopefully
enough will fall to bring the flow up enough to improve the float
and the numbers of fish. We have plenty of open dates for night
fishing the river mouth the next few weeks and drift boating in
October. Over all the numbers of salmon this season have been very
good. I would expect the river season to be decent. We still have
a lot of open dates for fall/winter steelhead's for all the trout
nuts out there. The last 3 steelhead seasons have been awesome!
9/8/09
Salmon fishing has been good all over the eastern end of Lake Ontario
and on the Salmon River. Good numbers of kings have made a push
up the Salmon River and are also hanging around in the estuary.
Night fishing the river mouth has been so/so but will improve as
the water temperatures decrease. Over the last few charters we have
produced good catches of salmon as well. A lot of cohos mixed in
with the kings. We have been fishing 60-90' using j-plugs and flasher/fly
combos mostly in green and white. We have plenty of open dates the
next few weeks including sept 10,12,15,16,20 for morning charters
- most other dates are open for afternoon charters or night fishing
the river mouth.
9/1/09
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been a lot better the last few
days.
After a tough weekend with bad weather and so/so fishing conditions
have improved dramatically. We've been fishing 100-120' with flashers/fly
combos working best run down 80-100'. Salmon have been hanging off
the Salmon River north to the Sandy Creeks.
A big pod of kings entered the Salmon River estuary over the past
several day and have been trickling thru the lower river up to Pulaski.
We have a lot of weekdays open the next 3 weeks- Sept 3,4,7,8,9,10,15,16,17,19,20
are all open for morning/afternoon charters, night trips at the
Salmon River mouth, bank river trips in the DSR or drift boat floats
down the river. Plenty of open dates for Oct as well give us a call
or email and we'll set you up for a king salmon trip of a life time!
